Do you Love a Child with Aspergers?
You are invited to contribute to a Book to raise Awareness for Aspergers.
When my husband and I learned that our son's diagnosis was Asperger's Syndrome, we didn't know anything about it. We'd never even heard of it.
We didn't have any friends with kids with Aspergers. If it had been ADD, I would have had plenty of support, but instead I just felt alone and confused.
I had questions. Lots of Questions. Where could I get help?
I wasn't comfortable posting on message boards or forums to talk about my son. I'm a private person.
So, I started researching and reading books, hoping to find the information I needed.
Unfortunately the books I found were from a medical or professional approach. Even the ones written by parents still didn't give me what I wanted. I wanted to know how other kids were doing, what other parents found that was working, and, most importantly, how I could, in my day to day life, raise my son the best I could.
I wanted to know what other MOMS and DADS were doing, not what Doctors and Psychologists recommended.
After much frustration, I made a decision. I'm compiling a book with tips and suggestions and advice from parents of Asperger kids and I need your help.
Why should you contribute?
1. This new e-book will be made available FREE to the first 30 contributors as soon as it's completed.
2. You'll be helping other people who love kids with Aspergers learn tricks and tips to help them be the healthiest, happiest children possible.
3. You'll be contributing to Asperger's Research. Yes, 50% of profits will be donated to an Asperger Organization. (You'll help me choose which ones.)
4. This isn't my first online project. I'm a Mom with many successful websites and products under my belt. This project WILL be completed and it will get into the hands of people who will benefit from it.
5. You'll be famous! If you're included in the book, you have the option of including your name, and a photo, if you'd like. (Of course you may remain anonymous if you choose.)
6. It costs nothing to contribute.
I hope you'll sign up below to participate in the questionnaire.
Questions asked about this project:
Who are you and why should I trust you? Our son's diagnosis is fairly new, and most of our family and friends do not know yet. Therefore, I'm keeping my name confidential for now, until we decide to tell them. In fact, some of the questions in the questionnaire are about "How to tell" or "Did you tell" because I want to learn from your experience.
As far as trusting me, I'm not asking for any money, just a few minutes of your time. :)
Why isn't this a "real" book instead of an e-book? I get asked that question a lot. Yes, I have connections where I could get this book published. However, books cost a lot of money to produce. If I go that route, I can only contribute 5-10% to Asperger's Research rather than 50% of an e-book (which costs nothing to produce after it's made).
If the purpose of this book was to get me exposure and publicity, I'd do a "real" book, but, since the goal is to get information to the people who need it, and raise as much money for Asperger's Research as possible in the process, an e-book is the best way at this point. Of course, if we have enough interest down the road, we may add a printed book, as well.
Why won't you tell us which Charity will receive 50% of the profits? That's simple. Because I haven't chosen one yet. In the questionnaire you receive, the final question asks for YOUR recommendation. I don't want to blindly chose an Organization without getting input from the contributors. Plus, I have to contact the Organization we choose and get their permission to be listed on this site once I do choose.
Update! One Organization has been chosen, so we need one more. The wonderful Pioneer Learning Center will receive a portion of funds from the sale of this book.
Will I be paid for contributing? No. You'll receive the knowledge that you helped other parents who love their Aspie kids, raised awareness about Aspergers, and raised funds for research. You'll also receive a free copy of the e-book when it's done in appreciation of your help.
I don't live in the United States. Can I contribute? If you love a child with Aspergers, you can certainly contribute.
